Selena Gomez is plotting her return to music, and it’s happening sooner than you might think. The newly single pop star has confirmed that she will release her next album in March 2013.
The news came from Ryan Seacrest, who spent Wednesday with Gomez in Dallas for an event tied to his Ryan Foundation. He wrote, “@selenagomez just told me new album in march fyi,” including a photo of himself with smiling singer with the tweet.
The release marks her first entry into the music world since 2011’s When the Sun Goes Down. And while the album spawned the hit “Love You Like a Love Song,” and a Best Female Video VMA nomination for the clip, she has focused mainly on her acting career in 2012.
Little else is known about the album, but Gomez has made it clear that she wants to expand her musical horizons on it, sharing that she had dreamed to work with the likes of Fun. and Taylor Swift on the release.
“Very different! I want to go for producers that probably wouldn’t want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with Fun. I want to work with just different styles of music,” she told MTV News back in June. “So I just want to do different things for this album. By the time it comes out, I’ll almost be 21, so I want to be able to — wow, that sounds really scary! I want it to be older.”
