Selena Gomez takes over the March issue of Seventeen magazine — posing for three different covers. She wore a different colored t-shirt for each cover emblazoned with words like “dream”, “brave” and “confident”. As usual, Sel is pushing a feel-good message and manages to look absolutely adorable in the process.

As for the cover story, the 21-year-old opens up about female pop stars and her inferiority complex. Selena expresses her support for Lorde, who had some unkind things to say about “Come & Get It”, saying: “I’m going to support her whether she likes me or not because I think she’s doing great things.” Sel also remains hopeful that their feud will end. “Someday I will see her and we’ll be cool.”

Her relationship with Katy Perry is much less dramatic. In fact, she turns to the prismatic superstar for love advice. “I actually talked to Katy Perry about guys who are intimidated by strong girls. I haven’t found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it, and not be threatened by it. It’s hard. I do think I might scare some guys, because I’m like, ‘I want to change the world! I have dreams! What do you want to do?’ But I only know how to be me. I’ve changed myself for guys, and it doesn’t work. Eventually, I will find someone who is going to like me for the crazy person I am.”

Selena talking about her power song in Seventeen Magazine: “I love my song ‘Who Says’. It’s my anthem for girls,When I perform it, I have everyone sing to me and don’t sing. I want them to hear themselves say, “Who says I’m not perfect? Who says I’m not beautiful? Who says I’m not worth it?’ It’s the coolest thing for girls to feel that.”

Selena in Seventeen Magazine : “You can’t be afraid of what people are going to say, because you’re never going to make everyone happy. Girls are scared of saying what they want. So when you don’t like something, you have to say it. Demi taught me that. Just saying it out loud is the first step to taking away the fear. It took me a long time to be able to say what I wanted, even with my parents. I tried to beat around the bush, but I realized if I just said what I was thinking, I would feel so much better. It’s not easy, but there’s a way to do it. Simply say, ‘No, this doesn’t feel right,’ as opposed to doing it aggressively.”

Selena reveals that she felt “defeated” and “like an underdog” when compared to fellow Disney divas like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato: “This year is when I really started feeling powerful. I had always been the underdog secretly. I was on Disney when it was Miley [Cyrus], the Jonas Brothers, and Demi [Lovato], Even though my show was picked up, it seemed like I was putting in so much work and seeing no results. I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang, and wrote. I started becoming very stale with my music, and I realized that I was doing things for other people. Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to pick up everything. I needed to have “Come & Get It” It’d be amazing. I wanted it all to be me. I was tired of feeling defeated. All this time, I was so pissed trying to figure out why I felt like such an underdog, and I finally realized I just wasn’t ready. I’m glad it’s taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it.”

Selena on girls supporting each other in Seventeen Magazine : “I love my girl friends more than I’ve loved any of my boyfriends because they have supported me, loved me, and always stood by my side. Some girl will drop you in five seconds for the right guy. That’s not how it’s suppose to be. That’s why I love Demi and Taylor [Swift] they support females and love to have that empowerment! I wish girls would stop hurting each other. It’s all competitive through fashion, best friends, and boys, boys, boys! My wish is that girls would love girls more.”

Selena talking about her fans in Seventeen Magazine: “I don’t feel like I can do enough for my fans. I work a lot, I work hard, and I get tired. But when you walk onstage and see these people who wait hours outside just to see you, it’s the greatest thing in the world. But it baffles me because they do so much for me and I don’t feel like I can do enough for them.”
